All I really want to do is watch my netflix, and stay in my Mexican embroidered dress on the couch with Matt. Unfortunately, if I want to keep getting netflix, I gotta go serve people and do manual labor.
The easy thing about work is I don't have to think about what I'm going to wear. I wear all black, pull my hair back and pick the color of my bandanna.
The bandanna has become my signature. The restaurant I work at has changed over the years, when I first started, I was pretty much in the kitchen. I had to have my head covered all day. I didn't want to wear a hat EVERYday. So I found a cute polka dot bandanna that I had and wore it a few times and got compliments. When I got sick of that, I started going to the little guy next door who has a plethora of "I 'heart' BK" Shirts that don't really fit right, socks, phone covers, umbrellas (that will break after the 4Th time you use it) and different colored bandannas. Regulars would see me on the street and wouldn't recognize me because I didn't have my bandanna on.
Now, I'm always on the search for "fun" bandannas. I bought one from a vintage store that had yellow flowers on it, and orange one that had a map of Big Bear ski resort in CA, and my favorite, my Alaskan flag bandanna I go last year while working in Alaska.
One of the goals I want to achieve with this blog is work on my writing and talk about the fun and hardship of working at a restaurant while your heart is still on the stage. Even sometimes the hardships about being on the stage. Even though, Once you have a performing job, there aren't a lot of hardships. I have another month of waiting tables then I go on tour doing "A Jungle Book". Children's theatre, early in the morning, seating up the sets at 8am, doing the show, taking the set down, then driving 8 hours to the next city. It's not glamorous, but it's a job and I'm happy to have it.
well, enough stalling, I better go clean, work out and straighten up...Or maybe I'll just stay here... and watch this special on my stolen cable about Pavarotti. That dude could SING!!! =)
